matter where it was recorded. Unlike conventional
sharpness controls, Reality Regenerator minimizes video
noise.
19 Micron Heads
Yield better picture quality in EP mode and reduces the
distortion caused by crosstalk.
Adaptive Picture Control
APC tests the condition of each tape and video head and
adjusts both playback and recording for high picture
sharpness and low video noise.
4 Head Dual Azimuth Recording / Playback
Two heads for LP speed and two for EP optimize playback
picture quality. They also enable Crystal Clear freeze frame,
frame advance and picture search.

Editing Features

Flying Erase Heads
Erase heads mounted on the rotating head drum minimize
the 'rainbow' effect and picture distortions where one
recorded segment ends and another begins. Essential to

A/V Insert Editing
The ability to place a shorter segment of picture and sound
in a previously recorded longer segment, without undue
picture distortion at the edit points.

Cable Mouse Control for Cable Boxes and DIRECTV®
Receivers
System that coordinates your VCR and Cable Box or Digital
Satellite System Receiver. Makes it possible to program a
sequence of shows from cable or satellite. Also enables you
to choose cable or Digital Satellite System channels using
the VCR remote.

Convenience Features:

SmartFile Electronic Indexing System
Displays the date, time and channel recorded, or the name
of each recorded program on a tape. Provides
point-and-click access to recorded programs.
SmartFile Program Title Download When you place a VHS
cassette with a SmartFile label into your VCR and make a
recording, this feature enters the program title automatically
into the SmartFile label memory chip. The program title is
received via the XDS signal included by many broadcasters
(where available). Your recorded shows are automatically
listed by name in the electronic table of contents.

SmartFile Auto Blank Search
When you program the timer, this function automatically
locates and winds to the start of the longest unrecorded
portion of the tape.
SmartFile Generator
Enables you to enter names for the segments of tapes
recorded previously.

Built-in A/V LaserLink Wireless Reception
System that receives infrared transmission from a
compatible Sony Nandycam camcorder. Enables to play or
copy camcorder tapes without cables, jacks or plugs.
Favorite Channel List with Station ID
Lets you go directly to your favorites without flipping through
channels or looking up channel numbers. Works with Auto
Station ID (where available).
Easy Set-Up Button
