The DCR-TRV240 Digital-8 camcorder, achieves stunning detail, remarkable clarity, and exceptional video and audio performance.
The Digital-8 format uses the same video compression system as DV - delivering up to 500 lines of horizontal resolution - records digital video and audio on a standard 8mm or Hi-8 tape, a richer and more accurate picture quality than the analog 8mm or Hi-8 format. The main benefit of this camcorder is Digital image quality with PCM Digital Sound, i.Link (Fire Wire) IEEE-1394 connection and you can still playback 8mm and Hi-8 tape formats.

��	Analog To Digital Conversion with Pass Through The camcorders analog inputs feature a built-in Analog to Digital converter that will convert your analog video/audio to a digital signal that can either be recorded to tape or passed-through the i.Link interface to a compatible computer.
��	PCM Stereo Audio Pulse Code Modulation (PCM) recording for an incredible 96db dynamic range. The Digital-8 camcorders provides two recording modes 12 and 16 bit audio. 12 bit creates two sets of stereo tracks, and 16 bit mode offers one pair of stereo tracks.

��	Digital Program Editing Allows you to select a sequence of 20 scenes and rearrange them via i.Link (IEEE-1394) to i.Link (IEEE-1394) or to an Analog VCR.

��	Super Night Shot and Color Mode System< This feature lets you record video even when shooting in total darkness 0 lux using the camcorders infrared system up to 10 feet away. With the optional HVL-IRH2 or HVL-IRC Night Shot light, images can be recorded in total darkness - up to 100 feet away.
��	Interval Recording Allows the user to record video in preset intervals.
��	Frame Recording Mode allows recording of any individual frame of the 30 frames that make up one second of video.
��	Intelligent Accessory Shoe Provides power, on/off, and special operational commands to a variety of Sony intelligent accessories via a multi-pin interface. This enables easy synchronized operation between the camcorder and such accessories as video lights, and microphones without additional batteries or cables.
